Notes:
Good morning. It is my delight to be able to join you this morning, and share my excitement about change and our ability to both manage and create it. This talk will begin with a brief overview of foresight -- of what futures researchers actually DO -- and then take you on a tour of trends and emerging issues of change that analysts suggest will shape the next half century.
The library of the future -- whatever shape it takes -- will assuredly both respond to and incorporate many of these trends in its structure, equipment, employees, funding, and clients. As we explore these change drivers of the future, keep your own library in mind.
I would like to point out that the transformation has begun: (holds up ebook) -- I have here 15 books, 9 short stories, and a copy of Fast Company. My home library is mutating as I speak.
